OBJECTIVES

This course is designed to provide delegates with a general understanding of the requirements of an Environmental Management System (EMS) and how to assess its effectiveness. It teaches the delegates to recognise and assess the aspects of an organisation's activities. It describes the legal requirements that apply to organisations and the requirements of the international standard for environmental management systems ISO 14001. It teaches the techniques and skills needed to audit such an organisation.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course consists of a mix of lectures and practical exercises designed to provide the delegates with the skills and knowledge needed to participate in EMS audits. The course is run over 5 days with exercises designed to give the delegates " hands on " experience. The course is approved by the IEMA EARA and contains a requirement for continuous assessment of the delegates and an examination. Successful completion of the course will result in the delegates being awarded a recognised certificate. This course can enable delegates to gain registration with the IEMA EARA registration scheme subject to qualifications and experience requirements.

COURSE CONTENT

COURSE TUTORS

The course tutors are all practicing environmental management system consultants and auditors with considerable experience in the implementation of the ISO 14001international standards. They are able to communicate their experiences and give advice on the application of the systems to delegates from first hand experience.

COURSE DURATION

This course runs for five days running from 08.30 until 18.30 hrs for the first four days and from 08.30 until 16.00 hrs on the final day. This course may be run in-house for organisations wishing to train a team of auditors.
