OBJECTIVES
The course provides a basic awareness and understanding of the hazards and risks that can be encountered in the workplace. It also provides an awareness of the legal duties placed on both employers and employees.COURSE CONTENT
Following the course, delegates will be able to:
Appreciate the benefits of good standards of health and safety and state the consequences of poor health and safety standards Understand the scope of legislative requirements and outline the general duties of employers and employees Understand the principles of risk assessment and appreciate it is a technique for accident and ill health prevention Understand the importance of a safe working environment Communicate on safety matters Identify the key hazards and unsafe practices likely to be found in the workplace Define what is meant by the terms, working safely, accident, hazard, risk and risk assessment Assess (qualitatively) the risks associated with each of the following hazards:
Fire, Electricity, Work Equipment, Movement of People, Vehicles, Poor Housekeeping, Manual Handling, Display Screen Equipment, Noise, Chemicals and SubstancesWHO SHOULD ATTEND
The course is aimed at all employees, working in any sector of business. No previous health and safety knowledge is presumed.
