OBJECTIVES
A comprehensive course leading to the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) National General CertificateCOURSE CONTENT
Delegates will learn to:
Use proactive and reactive strategies to assess the risks of accidents and ill health Assist in the preparation and regular review of an organisations health and safety policy Undertake workplace inspections, note any hazards and the way they are controlled, identify safe and unsafe working practices and recommend appropriate and cost effective remedial action Communicate effectively on health and safety matters, both verbally and in writing Liaise with safety committees and facilitate relations with employee representatives Identify the common hazards and unsafe practices likely to be found in the workplace and know the appropriate protective measures to be taken Identify the agents and work situations likely to be detrimental to health and describe how health hazards at work may be controlled Identify sources of guidance and advice on health and safety Identify the main requirements of health, safety and welfare legislation and to ensure sound health and safety practiceWHO SHOULD ATTEND
The course is aimed at managers, supervisors, team leaders, employee representatives and all those who have a specific responsibility for health & safety. No previous health & safety knowledge is required, but students must be able to write short reports
COURSE DURATION AND STRUCTURE
This course is held over 12 days (Normally spread over 10 weeks) and is a mixture of formal lectures and practical exercises.
The course includes formal examinations and practical assessment
The NEBOSH National General Certificate will be awarded upon successful completion.
